Restaurant Review: Loca Lucho – A Delivery Kitchen Cooking Up A Mexican Fiesta

Nestled in the heart of the ever-vibrant neighbourhood of Carter Road is Loca Lucho, a delivery kitchen specialising in elaborate Mexican fanfare. The menu is designed by celebrity chef Gracian D’souza, and the dishes are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The kitchen is inspired by the worldwide success of Chipotle, and driven with the dream of feeding the nation wholesome burritos. We were delighted to try out some of their robust offerings, which were neatly packaged so as to maintain the freshness of the dishes through their travels.

Our meal was kicked off with a delectable Peri Peri Cottage Cheese Burrito Bowl,  which was an interesting medley of Cilantro and Lime White Rice, Pineapple and Cherry Salsa, Pinto Beans, Cottage cheese, Pickled Jalapenos, Charred Cherry Tomato Salsa, Pico De Gallo, Monterey Jack Cheese, and tied together beautifully with Sour Cream and Guacamole. We thoroughly savoured the marriage of the three flavours that complemented and balanced the dish very well – Tangy, Sweet, with a hint of Sourness.

We then tried two different burritos – Chipotle Potato Burrito and the mushroom burrito. The foundations of both the burritos were the same as that of the burrito bowl, with the exception of a few different ingredients. The Chipotle Potato Burrito was hearty and we relished every bite, but the punch of the chipotle was lost. The Mushroom Burrito was a great combination of flavours, but lacked seasoning making it slightly bland.

We washed down our meal with a Homemade Lemonade, perfect for the sweltering afternoon heat, but we would have loved to taste more lime in the drink. We also relished their Nacho Chips – a combination of three different tortilla chips – and a cheesy Quesso Sauce. The sauce complemented each chip beautifully, and each had a unique flavour to them which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We ended with a Tres Leches Cake, which if you’re a milk lover, you’ll really devour this one. The cake is typically made of three different kinds of milk, and hence the name Tres (three) Leches (milk), The cake was moist, and was truly melt in your mouth.

Loca Lucho also has numerous non-vegetarian options as well which we reckon will be just as delectable. Additionally, customers can avail the ‘Build Your Own Burrito’ option, where they can choose proteins and sauces to their liking. All in all, we were happy to see the heartiness of each dish that was offered and while there were a number of hits and a few misses, Loca Lucho is certainly here to stay.
