And so, the biggest mathematical showdown in the city has finally come to an end!

Numero Uno 2016, the mathematics and statistics festival organised by The Students’ Council of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics certainly lived up to all its expectations and even surpassed them.

Running successfully for a 12th successive year, the festival saw enormous participation from schools and colleges all over Mumbai with a massive total of 534 teams competing across various events. The participants were pushed to their limits over two days with only the best remaining to fight for the winner’s title.

Numero Uno 2016 consisted of 5 events, each unique in their own way.

The Classic Quiz, the flagship event of the festival was specially made for all the hard-core mathematics lovers and tested their knowledge, speed and teamwork. Monopolium Mathematica, a blend of mathematics and the much loved board game Monpoly was another crowd puller, with the finals being played on a life sized Monopoly board.

Not all the events were just for lovers of mathematics. C.H.A.O.S.- Creating and Harnessing An Omnipresent System combined street smartness with loads of fun, as the participants could be seen scampering around the college looking for clues in a treasure hunt.
Mind It! Was another event which tested the participant’s logical reasoning and made them think outside the box to solve the problems and come out on top.

And finally, Stumped To Bid, the event with the highest participation of 151 teams gave students the chance to take part in a mock IPL auction and build the cricket team they’ve always dreamed of.

The biggest prize however was still left! The winners of The Classic Quiz, Monopolium Mathematica, C.H.A.O.S., and Mind It! battled it out for the title of Master Numero, the champion of champions!

Numero Uno was also organized as an intra-college event for the first time, with students of H.R. College representing their respective clubs which only added to the competitive spirit of the festival.

R.N. Podar School bagged the major laurels, winning the Largest Contingent Trophy as well as The Best Contingent Trophy.

At the end of it all, Numero Uno 2016 was a massive success. The festival and events were appreciated by students and teachers alike, who were all keen to return next year as well.
