India’s rate of COVID-19 recoveries has reached the 30 lakh mark all while the country reports an addition of 83,340 new cases. The country’s total is near 40 lakh. The death toll is near 68 thousand. Pune is the hotspot for the COVID-19 cases in whole of India.
On Friday the Supreme court rejected the review petition filed by 6 states against its order allowing the central government to conduct medical and engineering entrance exams—Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET). This petition was filed with the motive of seeking approval for postponement and cancellation of the exams scheduled to commence September.
India has asked China to sincerely engage in restoring peace in the border region. Suggestions for disengagement and de-escalation are put forth. The spokesperson for External Affairs has said that peace can be brought when both the diplomats and military engage in negotiations. Anurag Srivastava has added that India is committed to solving the conflict through peace.

Kulbhushan Jadhav, the retired Indian Navy Officer was sentenced to death by a Pakistani Military court. The punishment was given on the bases of “espionage and terrorism” in 2017. A high court from Pakistan has given the chance to appoint a lawyer for the next hearing. This special law to be appointed in Jadhav’s case comes after the request of the International Court of Justice.
