Cyclone Nivar weakens, heavy rainfall in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu

Extremely harsh cyclonic storm Nivar reached landfall near Puducherry in the initial hours of Thursday, bringing massive rains to the union territory and neighbouring Tamil Nadu, India Meteorological Department (IMD) authority said. It faded into a critical cyclonic storm later it passed the coast near Puducherry.

On Wednesday, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot launched a nationwide portal to support transgender society members for applying for a certificate and an identity card online. Gehlot stated applicants could get their I-cards without any physical interface and without having to revisit any department.

Schools and colleges too must ensure students are provided period products for free. This new decision of the Scottish government is going to cost the nation 24 million pounds a year – about $32 million, the government officials announced.

Canada asks its people to not let moose lick their vehicles

The Candian authorities have warned the citizens to not let Moose lick their vehicles. This is specifically happening in Jasper, a town in Canada’s Alberta province. “They’re obsessed with salt, it’s one of the things they need for the minerals in their body. They usually get it from salt lakes in the park, but now they realized they can also get road salt that splashes onto cars,” Jasper National Park spokesman Steve Young told CNN as reported by The Hindustan Times.

The blue light produced by tide spotted along Maharashtra beaches

A fluorescent tide made its way to the Juhu beach of Mumbai and Devgad beach in Sindhudurg along Maharashtra’s coastline on Tuesday night. It is the tide that produces a fluorescent blue hue known as bioluminescence. It has now started becoming an annual occurrence along the west coast since 2016 between November and December. The cause of the fluorescent colour is the emission of light produced by phytoplanktons (microscopic marine plants), commonly known as dinoflagellates. 

Delhi police use trucks filled with sand to stop farmers tractors

To stop the farmers’ tractors at Singhu Border, the Delhi Police have placed barricades and trucks filled with sand to stop the farmers coming from Punjab and Haryana. Moreover, the police have also increased the deployment at the borders. Thousands of farmers are marching towards Delhi to protest against the Centre’s farm laws.
