1. Italy teachers conduct classes on streets, students attend from balconies

To restrict the spread of the virus, the government of Italy has closed schools until the end of October. This forced the people of Italy to be creative and teachers started operating schools from the streets and children attended them from the balconies. While the global lockdown was going on, residents of Italy started balcony-jamming and online yogas to keep up the spirit.   

2. Over 27 students test COVID-19 +ve in Andhra Pradesh after schools reopen

Approximately 27 students from the private schools attending their lectures have been tested positive for the virus. This happened in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Students from 9 to 10 grade from four different schools. This resulted in the shutdown of schools for 10 days and the remaining students & teacher will have to get tested. 

3. International press bodies urge Modi to drop sedition case against journalists

Two international press associations — the Belgium-based International Federation of Journalists and the Austria-headquartered International Press Institute — wrote a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to take “immediate steps to ensure that journalists can work without harassment and fear of reprisal”.

4. Jio launches made in India mobile browser, JIO Pages

Reliance Jio has launched a new web browser, called Jio Pages, the company claims that the new mobile web-browser has been “conceptualized and designed entirely in India”. The browser comes with India origin features like support for eight Indian languages, localized news content curation, a smart download manager, incognito browsing, encrypted connections, and many more.

5. For the first time ever, Pope Francis declares support for same-sex unions

Pope Francis recently announced that same-sex couples should be protected by civil union laws for the right of gay people. “Homosexual people have a right to be in a family. They are children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out or be made miserable over it” he said.

6. NETFLIX to offer free access to Indian users for the weekend

Netflix’s user growth has been slowing down recently, due to which the company is attempting ways to attract audiences to subscribing. Netflix recently stopped offering a free one month trial to those interested in subscribing to its online streaming service, so this free weekend in India test would reach the target audience.

7. Jio and Qualcomm have successfully tested 5G network in India.

Jio platforms and Qualcomm have announced that they have achieved the 1Gbps milestone while testing 5G in India. Qualcomm and Reliance Jio Platforms said that they are working together to develop indigenous 5G solutions and network infrastructure for India.

8. Etihad, first gulf airline to operate passengers from Israel

The Etihad airline recently made history by becoming the first gulf country to fly passengers from Israel. This happened after both countries signed a peaceful agreement. The Etihad also shared a video of the first experience of landing and the welcome by the water salute.   

9. IPL has been smashing success, the rating has gone through the roof: Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly, BCCI president said, “no one knew what was going to happen but we trusted and went ahead. We felt life should return to normalcy, we wanted the game to come back. I am not surprised by the feedback. It’s the best tournament in the world. I can bet you, the IPL has been smashing success in terms of the ratings, the number of people who are watching”

10. Volunteer in Oxford COVID-19 vaccine trial dies in Brazil.

The volunteer in the clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca has died in the trial process. The vaccine still undergoes the trial process. “There have been no concerns about the safety of the clinical trial”- Oxford.
