1. Meghalaya announces it’s Class 10 Board Results, pass percentage at 50.31

Meghalaya Board of School Education declared the Class 10 results on Monday. The pass percentage recorded this year is 50.31, slightly lower compared to the past years. The overall pass percentage stands at 55.72% in 2019, 56.76% in 2018, and 54% in 2017. Securing the first position in the state is Chetna Bose a student of Sherwood School in Tura who secured 568 marks out of 600. Sainava Modak from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Shillong secured the 2nd position by scoring 565 marks. Ainamdaphisha P Byrsat from Little Flower School, Shillong took the 3rd position with 561 marks. Around 50,000 candidates appeared for the Meghalaya Board SSLC examinations this year.

2. Class 12th Board Results of Haryana to be declared tomorrow

The Haryana Board is set to announce the class 12th intermediate results 2020 on July 21. The students who appeared for the exams can check their results online at the official website of BSEH at bseh.org.in. This year, the results will be declared on the basis of average marks of already appeared exams. Haryana Board class 12 examination commenced on 3rd March and ended on 31st March, 2020. 

3. Death toll due to Assam flood reaches 85, over 70 lakh people affected

As the intensity of Assam floods rises, six more people have lost their lives, taking the death toll to 85. Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam CM has confirmed that over 70 lakh people have been affected due to the floods. “Central and state government are providing all kinds of assistance to the people,” the CM said.

4. UAE successfully launches 1st Mars mission, a first for the Arab World

Kicking off the Arab world’s first interplanetary mission, UAE’s spacecraft took off on a seven-month journey to Mars. The “Hope Probe” also named ‘Amal’ took off from Japan. As reported by the media, about an hour after the launch, the probe deployed solar panels to power its systems and established radio communication with the mission on earth. Omran Sharaf, the project director of Emirates Mars Mission told the media that his team would analyze the data, but everything looked good as for now. This Mars mission is a first for the Arab world.

5. Apple could soon produce a two-way wireless charging case, hints patent

A patent awarded to Apple has hinted that it is working on building a two-coil wireless charging technology for an iPhone battery case without using the Lightning connector. Apple has said that a smart they are putting to use the battery case that could use two coils for bidirectional wireless charging. This may make the battery case capable of transferring power directly to an attached iPhone in a “pass-through” without charging its own battery. This hint comes amid news forecasting a “port-less” iPhone by next year.

6. Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake welcome second child after a secret pregnancy

American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have become parents yet again after giving birth to a baby boy after keeping her pregnancy a secret. Jessica Biel delivered the baby earlier this week. Biel and Timberlake, who tied the knot in 2012, are already parents to a five-year-old son, Silas Randall.

7. US Presidential candidate Kanye West cries during 1st campaign rally; says ‘dad wanted to abort me’

Rapper Kanye West was seen crying during his first rally for his presidential campaign while revealing that his dad wanted to abort him. “My mum saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy!” the rapper said. During the rally that lasted for over an hour, Kanye spoke against abortion and pornography.

8. Cloud burst in Uttarakhand claims 3 lives, 8 missing

A cloud burst in a village in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand has killed three people and eight others have gone missing. According to the reports, the three people died in Madkot village and the eight others went missing from a neighboring village. The sudden cloud burst reportedly triggered a flash flood in the Madkot village. “A rescue team is present at the spot,” Pithoragarh’s district magistrate, VK Jogdande, told ANI.

9. Suffolk Punch, a rare horse born using sex-sorted sperm technology

A Suffolk Punch foal was born using technology to determine its sex, the first of its kind in the UK. Born in Shropshire, the rare horse was conceived using sex-sorted sperm. As reported by BBC, “The technology makes it possible to select female foals to increase the breeding population more quickly”. This has saved the breed from becoming extinct. There are fewer than 72 female Suffolk Punches left in the UK and fewer than 300 overall in the world. The new method saved the breed from extinction.

10. 9 rhinos among over 100 animal deaths in Assam’s Kaziranga during floods

This year’s floods at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park have also claimed the lives of nine rhinos 100 other wild animals. According to a bulletin released by the Kaziranga park authorities today, nearly 85% area of the park, spread over 430 sq km has gone underwater at present. Forty-three of the 223 forest camps inside the park remain inundated.
