IIT Madras launches new online program for its students

An Advance Certification Programme in Software Engineering for IoT (Internet of Things), Cloud and Blockchain are being co-developed by Indian Institute of Technology – IIT Madras and Great Learning. It will be a nine-month-long course provided on the Great Learning platform. The course will cover topics like IoT data sources, big data analytics, cloud deployment and more.

JEE main results announced today

JEE Main results for the year 2020 have been out. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now access their results on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The results will be declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Out of the 8.58 applicants only 6.35 lakh students had appeared to give their examination.

India China shake hands over ‘5-point plan’ in an attempt to resolve border tension

The two countries have been in an intense standoff since early May. But now they have decided to come to a five-point plan for resolving the conflict. The agreement is to abide by the existing agreements and protocols. The talks were held in Moscow between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese diplomat Wang Yi. The Ministry of External Affairs have said that the talks had been “frank and constructive”.

HC rejects bail pleas of Rhea and Showik Chakraborty

On Friday, Mumbai’s sessions court rejected the bail plea of Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik. The application for bail was rejected by Judge G.B. Gurao. Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has tweeted that, “Once we get a copy of the order, we will decide next week on the course of action, about approaching the Bombay High Court.”

Rapidly spreading US wildfires claim the lives of 15

The savage wildfires on the West Coast of the United States have caused more than 500,000 people to flee their homes in Oregon. Authorities have found 7 dead bodies which took the total death toll to be 10. While five others were reported dead in Washington State and Oregon this week. Around 4.3 million acres were burned as 100 wildfires broke out in the United States.

AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine trial pause a wake-up call: WHO

A few days ago the COVID-19 vaccine trial named AstraZeneca was paused. Everyone had high hopes from this Oxford University vaccine. On this issue, the World Health Organization’s Chief Scientist said that it is a “wake-up call”. Mike Ryan, WHO’s head of emergencies said that the race is not amongst companies but the race is for saving lives. There are always ups and downs in conducting clinical research.  

74 Pakistanis stranded in India return home via Attari-Wagah border

The pandemic had forced as many as 74 Pakistanis to stay in India. The 74 Pakistani nationals got a chance to return back to their own country via Attari-Wagah border on Thursday. As many as 760 stranded Pakistanis were returned back to their home country while the pandemic was rampant. The Pakistan High Commission said, “We will continue to extend all possible assistance to the remaining stranded Pakistanis in India.”

BJP moves no-confidence motion against Mumbai Mayor over corruption

On Monday a no-confidence motion was passed by BJP corporators against Kishori Pednekar. The Mumbai Mayor was put in a spot as she was not able to tame the growing spread of coronavirus cases. Pednekar has denied the allegations of committing coronavirus and failing to curb coronavirus cases. The World Health Organization had earlier praised the city’s action to retain covid cases, said the Mayor.
