LinkedIn launches campus placements

LinkedIn has launched a locally developed product called LinkedIn Placements in an effort to make the process of campus placements smoother and more efficient not just for students but also for placement officers and recruiters,. The mobile and desktop-friendly product aims to make it easier for graduating students to find their first jobs, as well as assisting placement officers and recruiters to manage campus placement initiatives.

It was initially launched as a pilot project, the product has been adopted by 14 colleges in the country – FMS Delhi, ITM Group of Institutions, Jaipuria Institute of Management, MIT Institute of Design, PESIT College, Presidency College, RVCE College, among others.

“There are roughly 6 million students graduating every year in this country, whose primary concern is finding their first job. LinkedIn Placements will help them do exactly that,” said Ganesan Venkatasubramanian, head of engineering, LinkedIn India. “The product has been developed after 6 months of R&D, and is the first to be totally conceived and developed outside the US and China.”

The product is focused entirely on the Indian market for now, and depending on feedback and suggestions for further development, will be expanded to reach more colleges and recruiters.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network, with over 33 million members in India and 400 million globally. In India, it has offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi.
