The ICC Men’s World Cup is set to take place at 10 different venues, featuring a total of 48 matches. India’s opening match against Australia is scheduled for October 8 in Chennai, meanwhile, England will face New Zealand in the tournament opener on October 5.
Heading the Men’s Selection panel, Ajit Agarkar recently unveiled the official Indian squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. Agarkar travelled to Sri Lanka over the weekend to confer with team captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid in order to finalize the 15-player roster.
There had been widespread speculation about the physical condition of KL Rahul, a key middle-order batsman for the team. Although he was initially sidelined for the early matches of the Asia Cup 2023, the latest updates indicate that he is expected to be fit for the Super 4 stage. Consequently, he has been included in India’s World Cup squad.
India’s World Cup 2023 lineup boasts notable names such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav.
In a revised fixture, India is scheduled to take on archrival Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
