Festember | South India’s Largest Inter-college Cultural Festival

Festember – a fest that started as a dream in 1975 to celebrate culture, students, and talent on a grand stage. With humble origins, the continuous support, enthusiasm,  and perseverance of the students and participants year after year has helped the fest grow into a national attraction that has caught the attention of millions. Festember hosts a plethora of workshops, events, guest lectures, interviews, and pro-shows that make the fest memorable to all the students participating and organizing. The input of the faculty advisors and the consistent efforts by the various Festember teams that strive to keep the cogs of progress rolling behind the scenes is invaluable to making the fest a reality. Several days of entertainment, excitement, and enjoyment are encompassed within the canopy of Festember. 

With great attention comes great responsibility and as such, Festember remains aware of its social responsibility to give back to the community that has never failed to embrace it year in and year out. As the world promises the hope of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Festember Social Responsibility team has donated goods and supplies to 3 local hospitals to support them in their hour of need and help them continue to serve the needs of the public. 

Festember stands tall today as South India’s largest inter-college cultural festival and serves as the epitome of building a harmonious cultural quilt by celebrating the talent of various artists and sharing the inspiring backstories behind renowned personalities. Each of the various facets of cultural activities have been categorized into 11 clusters making a grand total of over 30 events within the span of one week. These activities, events, and extra-curricular exhibitions serve as a platform to bring together students with varied interests. It provides them with a platform to test their skills in literature, gaming, music, dance, art, and fashion while simultaneously kindling the fire of friendly competition within them.   

Over the course of hosting various events, there have been a few flagship signature events such as Choreonite and “Mr. and Mrs. Festember”, which have become synonymous with Festember itself. Apart from these events, Workshops aimed to capture the creativity of participants such as Origami, Speed Art, Cartooning, and Informal events such as Mafia, Picharades, Team Hunt, etc. are organized. 

The flagship “Carpe Diem” Guest lecture series never fails to garner the attention of the masses as household names in various fields such as music, sports, art, and film industry grace the Dias of Festember to share their insight and experiences with the audience.  As part of this series, we have hosted the cast and crew members of popular shows such as Brooklyn 99, Dark, Money Heist, etc. 

The heart and soul of any fest are the participants and what brings them together. As such, every edition of the fest is centered around a theme to add to the audience engagement and appeal of Festember. This year, the theme is “Greek Mystique” and in order to celebrate the golden age of the cradle of western civilization, various aspects of the fest have been “Greekified”.  

As we approach that much anticipated time of year again, we encourage everyone to join in the festivities and participate in the events with great enthusiasm to help broaden the horizons of Festember.
