CBSE books will now be made available online for free

At the inauguration of Kendriya Vidyalaya in East Delhi, HRD minister Smriti Irani declared that all CBSE books, as well as other learning material will be made available online for free, as a part of centre’s good governance effort. Speaking to the press, she says, “We made NCERT books available online for free through e-books and mobile applications a month-and-a-half ago. We are similarly going to make CBSE books available online along with additional learning material and videos as part of our good governance efforts.

She also added that other initiatives will also be undertaken, that will ensure holistic nurturing and improving the overall learning experience. The centre is also all set to introduce Shala Darpan and Saransh services in Kendriya Vidyalayas next academic year onwards. Shala Darpan is a service where parents will be informed about their child’s exam score, attendance and time table via SMS, whereas Saransh is a service that will help parents to compare the subject-wise learning outcomes of their children, with others at the district, state and national levels.

This move is definitely a step towards transforming education and we think it will help students as well as parents to a significant extent. Do share your views on the same in the comments section below.
