Jetking is leading institute in digital skills and networking training. It is a BSE listed company headquartered in Mumbai and provides top quality recruits for the talent-starved IT companies across India. They cater to the needs of Accenture, TCS, Airtel, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini to name a few. We recently caught up with Avinash Bharwani, Vice-President, New Business to talk about what Jetking does for its students. At Jetking, his focus area is to grow and maintain the company’s vast franchising network. He leads all aspects of the Franchising and Government association function that span across education, skill development, IT and recruitment.
His focus lies in areas such as framework development for vocational training, IT Development, Franchise Development and Staffing. Under his leadership, Jetking has been a recipient of the Best Franchisor Award and Small Business Award by Franchise India. In the last 10 years of his life, Avinash has helped over 100 entrepreneurs & more than 200,000 youth in three countries, transforming their lives & their profession through the education business.
At Jetking, the focus isn’t just on the technical aspect. They have a strong module on employability, which is their unique training methodology called Smart Lab Plus. Students are trained not just with the basics, but are given a more holistic training in areas such as Personality development, Communication Skills through mind mapping, window triads, quizzes, presentation, projects, etc. Through this, students are engaged in lot of activities that harness their own potential, which makes them ‘employable’. “That’s where Smart Lab Plus comes into play. That’s where we stand out. Being able to turn a normal B.A or B.com degree holder, and giving them the expertise to turn them into a technology enthusiast”, says Avinash.
Students who have completed their 10 + 2 education and who want to directly get jobs, rather than pursue higher education are also eligible for the courses at Jetking, apart from students with undergraduate degrees like B.A, B.Com, B.Tech, B.Ca, etc. Students with post-graduate degrees are also eligible to apply, and the course duration varies for each level of education.
Each course can lead students to different paths. For example, a hardware and networking student will move on to a career in managing networks and services, IT infrastructure managing services where a lot of large companies are hiring today. After 2 years of the network or server administration course, students can move on to leadership roles. A digital marketing student can become a digital marketing expert, and work on SEO, SEM tools, set up Google AdWords, and more, or even work on marketing content for companies. Programs in Cyber Security train students to become certified ethical hackers, which is a big requirement today for a lot of companies.
In partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Jetking has introduced the Young Minds in Entrepreneurship program, discussing what it meant to have an entrepreneurial mind-set, how to access funding, where to find your first customer – basically building what they call ‘social entrepreneurs’ rather than traditional entrepreneurs.
We asked Avinash about how the program would help students, as well has his thoughts on the future of the IT sector and virtual reality technology, and he had some very interesting insights to offer. Here’s what he has to say
