Utkarsh is the Annual Intercollegiate Cultural Fest, hosted by the Cultural Committee SK Somaiya Degree College of Arts, Science and Commerce. It is a PAN Mumbai Event where different colleges from all over Mumbai participate and compete with each other for the coveted trophy. It is a celebration of 3 days wherein Teachers, Students and Sponsors come together and work in a coordinated manner to make these 3 days not only entertaining but also memorable for the entire college. Utkarsh provides a rostrum for the students all around Mumbai to divulge their locked-up talent and discover their own proficiencies.
In 2019, Utkarsh was held on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of December. The theme of the fest was – The Realm of Myths, where Real meets Unreal. It was a theme which brought out the Unreal Legends from the Land of Unknown to remind you of their existence, which once was held with great importance but was tossed around unceremoniously as a myth. The fest saw a bigger response and huge footfall. More than 40 colleges from all over Mumbai participated in the fest, with the footfall of over 10000 in the span of 3 days. The Cultural Committee, consisting of over 120 students, hosted a total of 51 events. The events were divided into Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Fine Arts, Management Events, Sports, LAN Gaming and Special Events. We also had sponsors like KTM, Starbucks, IIDE, Monster Energy and many more for helping us to make this fest a grand success. The fest was also enlightened with the presence of celebrities like Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Pandey, Divya Khosla Kumar and The Doorbeen, along with different celebrities like Tanishq Sharma, Ali Shaikh, Unnati Shah, Ishita Chauhan and many more as judges for our different events.
This year, they are back with their fest, Utkarsh 202One, with a new team, new situations but the same enthusiasm. As virtual is the new normal, they will be conducting an online fest, on the 26th, 27th and 28th of February, 2021.
