UPSC topper Kanishak Kataria Destroys Unorthodox Views as he Thanks his Girlfriend for his Success

Kanishak Kataria has taken over the internet like a storm after the announcement of UPSC IAS Results of the year 2018 was announced this April. Currently working as a Data Scientist in a Bangalore based company, Kanishak ranked first in his first ever attempt for the examinations. He was surprised to learn the results as it was completely unexpected for him. Kanishak has also completed his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay and he also worked as a teaching assistant there.

Originally from Rajasthan, the boy always wanted to be a good administrator and now he can work on his intention of being so. Belonging to the SC Category, he qualified for the examinations with mathematics as his optional subject.

The UPSC has also announced Srushti Jayant Deshmukh as a topper among the women candidates. She secured the fifth rank. Shrushti has completed her BE In Chemical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya in Bhopal. Around 759 candidates, out of which 577 are men and 182 are women, have been suggested for appointment to the Indian Administrative Services and Indian Police Services, according to a statement issued by the UPSC.

But what really caught the internet’s eyes was his sweet thank you speech as he gave the credit for his successful IAS preparation to his family, friends and, wait for it, his girlfriend.

Setting fire to some ‘sanskaari’ norms, the topper’s statement became viral as it promoted progressive thinking and destroyed unorthodox views.  Like a breath of fresh air, many people came out in support of the boy’s frankness, contesting the common belief that love interests cause distractions in studies.

Let’s hope more of the youth are open about their views in public so that they can garner some support and increase the normalcy of such an attitude in India.
