The Fixer: A New Journey For Cricket Lovers To Embark Upon

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 soon coming to an end, cricket lovers have no other cricket tournament left to look forward to, but what if I tell you that you can hook your mind to something that takes you to the less explored, yet an enrapturing side of the cricket world? Would you be interested in navigating through the mind of a cricketer? If yes, then you need to get your hands on The Fixer, a novel by Suman Dubey. It is a story, says the author, that will entertain you, keep you hooked, compel you to keep turning the pages, and will stay with you for a long long time.

The Fixer is a story that is inspired by a quote, “When the Gods wish to punish us, they answer our prayers” by Oscar Wilde, an Irish poet, and playwright, which implies that sometimes not getting what you want is the best thing that could happen to us. The Fixer revolves around the life of a 44-year-old driven cricketer Neil Upadhyay who eventually realizes that his dreams and goals are misplaced and ends up developing and pursuing a new set of goals.

During the virtual launch of the book, the author Suman Dubey explained his journey of writing and stated that initially, he had no idea of giving the story a twist of match-fixing. It was the writing process that made the author weave it into the story since the story demanded it. In a story where the author has completely surrendered himself to carve out the character of the protagonist, feels real and is very similar to you and me who deals with the same yet unique set of external as well as interal conflicts that we too experience in our lives.

Suman Dubey’s debut novel, The Fixer, published by Rupa Publications, is an entertaining and gripping story that is sure to leave you enthralled by the end of it. It is available in paperback copies in bookstores like Crosswords as well as soft copies on Amazon globally, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm. Go get your copy now!
