http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Students-celebrate-Independence-Day-with-a-difference-/articleshow/21890570.cms? – the students of Jai Hind BMS set out to fight yet another evil of the Indian society, the aim was to share the basic necessities that many of us forget to value and during the two day event a lot of the students learnt the value of a regular meal and a clean new T’shirt.

A food drive, suppoeted by Sanghvi Group of Companies, was planned wherein Jai Hind BMS volunteers went across the streets of Mumbai from Churchgate to Ullasnagar, looking for little kids on the streets, giving them food packets specially prepared for them with Theplas, Vegetable, Sweets and then playing around with these wonderful kids all wearing Talaash Restoring Faith T-shirts.

The campaign was promoted across outdoor, indoor and social media. A poster of TRF was displayed on Nana Chowk bus stop, posters were placed at major food joints like Guild Trip, Leopold Café, Mondegar, Yogurt Bay, Delhi Darbar, Tibs Franky, Sukh Sagar etc. Videos of TRF posters were running in 200 DSN screens across the city in McDonalds, CCD’s etc. Rigorous promotion were carried out on facebook pages and the jingle for TRF was played on 93.5 Red FM, furthermore promoting the event.

19th October 2013

The first part of the campaign was initiated in Jai Hind College itself, where little kids from Churchgate and nearby areas were gathered. The glimmer of hope in their eyes, when they were told that they will be given food was an enticingly sad sight, this hope is what drove Talaash volunteers to find 60 such kids, and bring them to the college campus, where a meal, T-shirt and also two very kind hearted celebrities were waiting for them.
Miz. Pooja Bedi and Mr. Ashmit Patel joined us for the distribution with sheer enthusiasm, the kids were more than happy to chat and click pictures with celebrities while eating a hearty meal. The content smile on every face in the college campus was a living proof of the magic of sharing.

Volunteers carrying T’shirts and Food Packets reached their next stop Bandra, where they gathered 40 little bundles if energy, they danced and sang on the street with Talaash volunteers, simply happy to receive what they did. These kids with no shoes, tattered clothes and hungry stomachs but happy hearts became an inspiration for the volunteers.

Another set of volunteers reached Juhu, where they were joined by actress Miz. Anjana Sukhani, who very zestfully met the 30 kids gathered there for their meal.Volunteers in Ville Parle were joined by the famous choreographer Mr. Hanif Hilal who distributed food to the 40 children happily gathered there, making friends with the volunteers and chatting away telling them their stories.

Actor Rahul Singh joined Talaash volunteers at Lokhandwala where 40 more kids were enjoying clicking pictures in different poses and talking about their lifes with there newly made friends.

With another 80 packets the volunteers left for Babulnath and Chowpatty, it was at these places where they saw extreme adversity of life in their own city. They met loads of kids eagerly waiting for food, their families giving out blessings for the generosity. Even in their appalling conditions these kids were just like any other we met, happily jumping around on receiving their gifts while sharing their meal with their families. The kids helped finding other people around, gathered their friends and even took the volunteers to their houses. The immeasurable satisfaction that their smiles gave couldn’t be ecpressed in words.

A set of volunteers travelled from CST station to Ullahsnagar distributing food packets to children on the stations in the way and to the little kids working to earn a few rupees to eat a decent meal.

21st October 2013

The second part of the campaign was held in Goregaon, where the renowned actor Mr. Imran Khan, joined Talaash for this cause. The warmhearted celebrity didn’t just join us for the drive but also invited 20 children to his shooting sets, giving them the experience of a lifetime. He spoke to the excited little kids, while giving them the T-shirts and food packets, along with the joy of meeting a star.

Talaash in its humble effort managed to feed 400 little children and attained the unmatchable reward, the smiles of these beautiful little souls. TRF accomplished it’s second phase with hundreds of happy faces, re-proving Mother Teresa’s thoughts “If you can’t feed a hundred people, feed just one.”
