On 6th July, 2016, Enterprise Ireland and Embassy of Ireland co-hosted a pre-departure briefing for students going to study in Ireland in this fall 2016 semester along with their parents. During the session, the team of Enterprise Ireland consisting of Barry O’Driscoll & Wendy Dsouza provided useful and practical tips to students that will help them in their stay in Ireland. They additionally provided a brief idea about working in Ireland and the weather conditions there. Most importantly they also answered some queries that students had regarding the visas and other matters to plan for their study abroad stay.
Irish Ambassador to India, H.E. Brian McElduff talked about the best universities, institutes and specialist colleges in Ireland. He spoke about the various opportunities that students can pursue after completing their studies in Ireland. A checklist of things to do before leaving for Ireland was also given to students.
When asked about the message to the youth, McElduff said, “Explore the world and be adventurous. Go with an open mind, listen, learn and your life will be transformed.”
Rory Power is the head of Enterprise Ireland in India and he shared some of this thoughts at the session with us.
Moving out of your own country to pursue further studies is not easy especially if you are unfamiliar with the place you’re going. At this pre-departure briefing, the team members of Enterprise Ireland made sure that they provide all the important information such as accommodation, clothing, official currency, mobile networks, culture and people as well as various groups they can join to integrate better in Ireland. It is a great initiative and will help the students in a big way.
Youth Incorporated spoke to some of the students present at the event about their thoughts on studying in Ireland and the programs they are pursuing. You can watch their response in the video below.
