Sonam Kapoor awarded the I Am Woman award for ‘Neerja’

Karan Gupta Education Foundation (KGEF) and IE Business School’s ‘I Am Woman’ movement aiming to empower women achievers, awarded Sonam Kapoor the ‘I Am Woman’ Award for her effortless and inspirational portrayal of the fearless airhostess, Neerja who put the lives of the passengers above her own.

Elated at the award, Sonam Kapoor said that she believes in equal opportunity. “One thing I learnt while paying Neerja is that fear is something you don’t have to live with. You can embrace it, understand it and it can actually give you the strength and the courage to do what you seek to do. Follow your dreams and be the best version of yourself,” she added.

‘I AM WOMAN’ celebrates and awards the inspiration of women, where power women speak about their personal and professional challenges and how they overcame them. Apart from Sonam Kapoor, the other recipients include Lucky Morani, Amrita Raichand, Kiran Bawa, Rouble Nagi, Nisha JamVwal, Reshma Merchant, Raunaq Roy, Maheka Mirpuri, Devita Saraf among others, each woman who has carved a niche by herself. Other than educationist Karan Gupta, Editor Nitish Shah, the guests included Mohomed Morani, Aarzoo Govitrikar, Bina Aziz, Kunika Singh and Azmina Rahimtoola.

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform,” Diane Mariechild. This quote resonates with what we believe in. Nothing can be more inspiring than listening to the success stories of our power women. This will sow the seeds of courage, resilience and empowerment to thousands of women. KGEF and IE Business School are committed to the success of women and IE welcomes women to study in the various programs that the school offers,” says Karan Gupta, Harvard Business School alum and the founder of KGEF, KGC and the Managing Director of IE Business School.
