Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Crowned As The Fastest Woman On The Globe

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who, with her first Olympic gold medal in 2008 became the first 21-year-old Caribean woman to win a gold in 100m, has once again astonished the world by her remarkable achievement of becoming the fastest woman on the globe.

The 2 times Olympic and 4 times World Championship winner, after breaking the celebrated Usain Bolt’s record said, “It’s a wonderful experience seeing my son witnessing this”.

The Jamaican who gave birth to her first child in 2017 is the only woman to win a World Championship title after becoming a mother. “This is a victory of motherhood,” she said to a reporter of AP. 

The 32-year-old who lost her Nike sponsorship because she advocated for pay protection during pregnancy now inspires millions of women in the entire world.

Shelly-Ann-Fraser-Pryce is the only sprinter awarded with the crown of the world champion over 100m four times (2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019). The woman with her magnificent victory not only gave perfect evidence of girl power but also stabbed the false beliefs associated with maternity.

Owing to the myths of motherhood the victory was not much anticipated as a consequence of which the stadium in Doha was just half filled. As per a TV reporter, the 32-year-old threw her multi-coloured wig up in the air in front of the Jamaican team sitting in the stands, before taking the national flag from them.

Filled with pride she took her 2-year-old son, Zyon and marched with him around the tracks that were devoid of spectators. “To be standing here as a World Champion again after having a baby, I am elated,” said Fraser Pryce.
With the record-breaking time of 10.71 seconds she said, “The females keep showing up. We love to put on a performance and for me, I am just really happy to come away with the win.”

Being a strong believer of the power of focus and determination from the very beginning she said “You can do anything. It’s about who you are and why you started in the first place.” A woman who was unable to defend her title in London, 2017 due to the birth of her son is today getting clicked with her 2-year-old. As the world’s fastest person on the Earth, she indeed has made history.
