To keep farmers from entering Delhi, nails were planted upon the road at Tikri, Ghazipur
To stop the farmers from crossing the borders and coming into Delhi for protesting against the new farm laws, iron nails were cemented on the road at Tikri and Ghazipur borders in Delhi on Monday night. This was done by the laborers from nearby construction sites under the supervision of the Delhi Police. Not just this, multi-layer barricades too were put up at Ghazipur along with the barbed wire to keep off people on foot.
UGC-NET examination to be conducted from 2-17th of May
The UGC-NET examination for Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for Assistant Professor will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 17. The examination entails two test papers with one carrying 100 and the other 200 marks. The format of the test will be Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only, the NTA informed.
First amputee clinic of India launched in Chandigarh
In what is the first of its kind in India, Chandigarh launched an amputee clinic that aims at providing patients with complete services under one roof. The clinic is set up by the Director of PGIMER Prof Jagat Ram. Speaking about the launch, he said, “It has been our endeavour to provide comprehensive care to post-trauma amputees…with multidisciplinary care.”
Indian-American Bhavya Lal becomes NASA’s Acting Chief of Staff
Indian-American Bhavya Lal was appointed by American space agency NASA as the Acting Chief of Staff. Previously Bhavya Lal served as a senior White House appointee and worked on the Biden Presidential Transition Agency Review Team, oversaw the agency’s transition under US President Joe Biden-led administration. In addition to being the acting chief, Lal will also work as the senior advisor for budget and finance at NASA.
After military coup, US President Biden threatens to reimpose sanctions against Myanmar
After the military in Myanamar staged a coup and forcefully arrested the civilian leaders of the country’s government including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, US President Joe Biden threatened to reimpose sanctions on Myanmar. Biden referred to the coup as a “direct assault on the country’s transition to democracy and the rule of law”. In 2016, the United States had lifted sanctions on Myanmar.
MP makes character certificate mandatory to get a driving license
From now onwards, the government of Madhya Pradesh has made submitting a character certificate mandatory to get a driving license, a transport department official said. In addition to this, the driving licenses of individuals accused of committing crimes against women will be canceled. This move, Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput, affirmed will make traveling in public transport safer for women.
Mountaineer from UP hoists India’s Tiranga at Africa’s highest peak
Nitish Singh, a mountaineer from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh victoriously hoisted the Indian national flag at Mount Kilimanjaro peak. This young man hoisted the country’s f;ag on 26th January, i.e the Republic Day after three days of scaling Africa’s highest mountain (5,895 metres above sea level). He told the media, “Now I aim to scale the top seven highest peaks in the world.”
After Mumbai locals resume for the public, 237 fined for not wearing masks
On the first day of Mumbai locals’ reopening for the public, as many as 237 passengers were fined for not using masks while traveling in trains. The Mumbai division of Railways with the aid of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) charged the offenders with a fine of ₹200 each, Sumit Thakur, the Western Railway CPRO, said.
A mummy of 2,000-year-old having a gold tongue discovered in Egypt
A 2,000-year-old mummy carrying a tongue made of gold was unearthed recently by a team of Archaeologists digging at the ancient Egyptian site, Taposiris Magna. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in an official statement, made an assumption that the Embalmers might have placed the golden tongue on the mummy with a thought to ensure the ability of the deceased to speak in the afterlife.
