1. IIT Kharagpur to conduct international e-symposia on ‘Gandhian Thoughts and Philosophy’

To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of father of the nation-Mahatma Gandhi IIT Kharagpur decided to conduct an international e-symposia on ‘Gandhian Thoughts and Philosophy’. Academics and experts on said subject from all over the world will deliberate on Gandhian thoughts and philosophy through webinars on select days of August.

2. Online application process for IIT JAM 2021 to begin from September 10

IIT Joint Admission test for Masters (IIT-JAM) to be conducted this time by Indian institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. IISc Bangalore released an official poster regarding it. This poster depicts that application date for admission process is 10th September with deadline 15th October. The IIT-JAM 2021 exam to be held on February 14, 2021 and the results will be declared on March 20.

3. Rural schools of Maharashtra seek permission to re-start classes

Owing to impracticability of online education and lack of digital infrastructure, rural schools in Maharashtra seek a permission to hold physical classes as rural area substantially unaffected by pandemic Covid-19. However, unlock guidelines issued by central government mandates that all educational institutions will be remain closed till 31st August.

4. 52-year-old autorickshaw driver assaulted in Rajasthan after he refused to chant, “Modi zindabad” and “Jai Shree Ram”.

Ahmad Kacchava, a 52 years old autorickshaw driver assaulted for not saying Modi Zindabad and Jai shree Ram in Sikar District of Rajasthan. The accused duo, Shambhudayal Jat (35) and Rajendra Jat (30) has been arrested after aggrieved person filed FIR against them under sections 323, 341, 295A, 506, 327 and 382 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

5. SC directs J&K admin to explore possibility of restoring 4G in certain areas

Supreme Court asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration exploration of possibility of 4G services restoration in certain areas. In response to this, The Jammu and Kashmir administration sought time to take instructions on the restoration of high-speed internet service. The High-speed internet facility is down in valley since abolition of Article 370 in August last year.

6. Rana Daggubati posts pic on Instagram ahead of his wedding with Miheeka Bajaj, captions “Ready”

Bahubali fame actor Rana Daggubati and Miheeka Bajaj are ready to tie a knot today at Hyderabad’s Ramanaidu Studios with only 30 attendees. Actor Rana Daggubati informed this in his Instagram post with his father Suresh Babu and uncle Venkatesh Daggubati, captioning it, “Ready.” The wedding will be a combination of Telugu and Marwadi traditions

7. Rescuers of Kerala plane crash to undergo quarantine, COVID-19 tests after pilot tests positive

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) directed its personnel to undergo quarantine as two passengers and a pilot tested positive of Covid-19. Rescuers from National Disaster Response force (NDRF) and other airport officials also asked for same. The official informed that the force will also conduct Covid-19 test of those who were exposed to Covid-19 positive people.

8. US tech firm PORTL creates phone booth-sized hologram machine for calls

PORTL Inc, a Los Angeles based tech firm created a booth sized hologram machine to facilitate users talk to a life-sized hologram of a person in real-time. The machines also can be equipped with technology to enable interaction with recorded holograms of historical figures or relatives who have passed away.

9. Researchers claim to have found pesticides, pollutants in snow atop Arctic glaciers

Researchers recently claimed that they have found pesticides and industrial compounds deposited in snow atop four high-elevation glacier sites on the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard which is located in the Arctic Ocean north of Scandinavia. As per researcher’s, large-scale industrial pollution made to accumulate such compounds on top of the glaciers.

10. India criticizes Pakistan at UN for offering continued patronage to Dawood Ibrahim

India, at United nations Security Council, criticized Pakistan for harbouring terrorist activities on its soil and patronising hardcore terrorists like Masood Azhar and Dawood Ibrahim. Dawood Ibrahim was a chief perpetrator of 1993 Mumbai bomb blast. Indian official also highlighted Pakistan’s role in arms trafficking managed by D-Company which is owned by Dawood and his family.
