The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2020 has been rescheduled by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to October 3 and 4, 2020. The decision of the same has been uploaded on the IAF’s official website. The AFCAT is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice a year once in February and then in August/September, for the purpose of appointing select Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical).
The Maharashtra government has decided to go ahead and conduct MHT CET 2020 between October 1 and 15. Uday Samant, State Higher, and Technical Education Minister has said that the decision on final dates will be conveyed soon. The examinations will mostly be conducted for engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses in the first week of October.
President Ram Nath Kovind has honoured three RPF personnel with Jeevan Raksha Medals. Late Jagbir Singh, Constable, Northern Railway (NR), was posthumously awarded Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak for sacrificing his life while saving a couple and four children in Delhi. Shiv Charan Singh, Constable, WR and NW Railway Head Constable Mukesh Kumar Meena were awarded with the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has constructed bunkers along the Line of Control in Poonch district, keeping in mind the safety of locals amid ceasefire violations by Pakistan. The world’s largest solar tree has been developed and is soon going to be installed by the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) at CSIR-CMERI Residential Colony in West Bengal’s Durgapur. The capacity of the solar tree is above 11.5 kWp and can generate 12,000-14,000 units of clean power annually. There are 35 solar panels fixed in each tree with a capacity of 330 wp each.
Election Commission (EC) is soon to set up India’s first regional voters’ awareness centre in the pink city of Jaipur under its Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. This centre will take under its jurisdiction four states, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh. “A 3,385 square metre land for construction of the [centre] has been allotted by the state government in…Jagatpura,” EC stated.

Biggest-ever black hole collision was detected by scientists using gravitational waves through the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo observatories. The two black holes observed were 85 times and 66 times the mass of the Sun and collided to form a black hole 142 times bigger than the Sun. The gravitational-wave signal GW190521 from the merger was observed in May 2019.
