Apple rolls out iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 updates in India

Apple Inc has now made available, to the Indian users, its latest iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 updates, alongside the latest watchOS 7 and tvOS 14. Now the company is also planning to announce the new iPhones this year. The newly rolled out iOS 14 has major updates to the App Library, App Clips, and Messages.

JEE Main results declared, 24 students score 100% marks

The result for Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) 2020 was announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). A total of 24 students scored 100 percentile in these exams. The NTA JEE Main Exam 2020 was conducted between September 1 to 6 amid the pandemic. Students can check their results on the official website at jeemain.nic.in.

Nearly 80% of govt school students didn’t receive education since lockdown

Around 80% children enrolled in government schools did not receive any form of education since the lockdown began, reported a survey by Oxfam India across five states. Only 20% government school teachers were trained to teach and take classes online, the survey stated. The survey also revealed that two out of every five government school teachers didn’t have the necessary devices like laptop or internet required to take the classes online. 

China play Punjabi songs for Indian soldiers, a move to either distract attention or ease tension

ANI has reported that the Chinese troops positioned at the border has set up loudspeakers and played Punjabi songs for Indian soldiers at the Finger 4 area on the north bank of Pangong Tso lake. There can be two motives behind this, which can either be to distract the Indian soldiers from the border, or to ease the tenshion between them a bit. 

India beats China to win a seat at UN Body

In times when tension continues to prevail between the two nations, India successfully defeated China to enter the prestigious Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a body of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). With this, India has now become a member of the commission for four years starting from  2021. India, Afghanistan and China contested the election. Among the 54 ECOSOC members, India and Afghanistan won the ballot agiving China fewer than the 28 votes, a figure necessary to win the poll.

Bill Gates says, 4 out of 6 vaccines currently in trial are likely to work

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, while speaking about the 6 COVID-19 vaccine candidates which are under trial, said that 3 out of them are most likely to work. He also said that India will have a major role to play in the production of these vaccines. Many experts, along with Gates, have predicted that the COVID vaccine is most likely to be ready and available in the early months of 2021. 

Protests erupt in north Kashmir over custodial death of a 23-year-old

Protests have once again erupted in north Kashmir’s Sopore town following the death of a 23-year-old youth who ‘allegedly’ died in police custody on Tuesday. The police have said ina statement that the boy escaped from custody and his dead body was found later. The youth’s family has claimed that it was a “murder in custody”.The police further said that the youth was a militant over ground worker (OGW). Two hand grenades were recovered from his possession, the police added.

India’s First Water Taxi to begin in Kerala from October

India’s first ever water Taxi is soon going to start from October in the state of Kerala in Backwaters Of Alappuzha. For starters, the state is planning to roll out 10-seater water taxis in the backwaters of Alappuzha district, a prime region in Kerala’s tourist map. “Four boats with advanced safety features will be used as water taxis. Each of the boats costs Rs 50 lakh and the construction of the vessels is in the final stage,” said Shaji V Nair, Director, State Water Transport Department as reported by OnManorama. 

Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune best cities in India to live and work

A survey conducted by Holidify has claimed that Hyderabad is the best city in India to live and work. It is then followed by Mumbai being the 2 and Pune being the 3 best city in the nation. This survey was carried out considering the amalgamation of cultures, diversity, employment, economy, infrastructure and some more such factors. Bengaluru and Chennai are the 4th and 5th on the list of best cities in India. 

After venomous remark on Mumbai, Kangana now calls Urmila Matondkar a ‘soft porn actress’

Twitter users have spat anger over Kangana’s new controversial and derogatory remark on Urmila Matondkar after she called Urmila a ‘soft porn actress’ on national television. “Even Urmila, she is a soft porn star. I know it’s very blatant. But she isn’t known for her acting for sure. What is she known for? For doing soft porn right? If she can get a ticket, why won’t I get a ticket?”, said the Queen fame. Besides anger, Kangana also received lesons of feminism from netizens.
