1. All regular passenger train service to remain suspended until further notice: Indian Railways

The previous announcement that extended the suspension till August 12 is now extended by the Indian Railways until further notice. Other than this, the special 230 trains that are operating at present will go on.

The railways want to now pay attention and monitor the occupancy of these special trains.

2. India’s GDP could hit the lowest since 1947: Narayan Murthy

The 73-year-old founder of Infosys marked that we need to start living with the pathogen now. The economy might suffer drastic losses and can fall hit lowest since 1947 if the 140 million workers who are the backbone of the country don’t return.

3. Russia to vaccinate its doctors against the coronavirus in the next two weeks

Health Minister, Mikhail Murashko declared that vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institue in Moscow will begin administering it to the public, including doctors but only on a voluntary basis.

To quote what he said, ‘The first packages of the medical vaccine against the coronavirus infection will be received within the next two weeks, primarily for the doctor”.

6. According WHO, fifty percent of Beirut’s health facilities have been crippled after the blasts

Richard Brennan, the regional emergency Director said that over 55 health centres and clinics were assessed in the city. The blast has put three hospitals out of complete operation and three others are working partially. This means a reduction of 500-600 beds which is a huge number in times of crises and emergency.

Along with the rampant problems due to the blast, the officials fear that COVID-19 will be causing a lot more in the present scenario and hence WHO has launched an appeal for 76 million dollars in the international community to help follow brethren of Lebanon.

8. India’s jewellery exports fell down by 38% in July as per official reports

The Indian Jewellery market is in deep losses due to the lower purchases during the coronavirus pandemic according to the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council.

The industry exports recorded a 2.2 billion dollar business last July which has come down to 1.35 billion dollar business this year. Although, the export of silver jewellery has recorded fiscal growth when compared to yesteryear.

9. 27-year-old cricketer dies by suicide for not getting into IPL

Lovingly called the “Junior Steyn” of Mumbai, Karan Tiwari was found hanging in his Malad flat this Monday. As per speculations, the cricketer was suffering through severe depression after missing out on his selections in IPL 2020.

10. Ram Janmabhoomi Head tests positive for Covid 19
