Assam police arrest 21 people in the illegal siphoning of pre-Matric scholarship funded by the centre

The police of Assam have carried out the arrest of 21 people for misappropriating the use of the Pre-Matric Scholarship fund for minority students from 2018-2020.  According to the police, Mahmood Hassan, Assam Minority Development Board and State Nodal Officer had filed an FIR. This arrest comes three days after the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, which offers this scholarship decided to ask the CBI to investigate the nexus that also roped in schools from Punjab and Assam.

Parties of J&K move to SC to seek urgent hearings of pleas against revoking its special status

Seeking urgent hearing of petitions challenging the scrapping of Article 370 and state of J&K reorganization into two Union Territories, The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference has moved the Supreme Court. The party also alleged that the central government is making ‘’Significant changes to the rights of the residents’’ even though the petitions are yet to be decided. 

Major earthquake likely to occur as stress build-up in Dharchula region of Uttarakhand

The scientists have cited critical stress as a major reason for the large concentration of micro and moderate magnitude earthquakes in Dharchula and surrounding areas. Scientists from Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology established a network of 15 broadband stations along the kali river valley.

Pfizer’s COVID vaccine 90% effective, might be available by the end of this month

BNT162b2, Pfizer’s COVID vaccine, the company reported, has reported that it has been more than 90 percent effective in late-stage trials. The findings hold immense importance as the vaccine is headed for a review by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) later this month. The vaccine may be available by the end of November.

Arnab Goswami moves to SC as Bombay HC rejects interim bail plea

The Bombay High Court has rejected Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami’s interim bail plea in relation to the abetment of a suicide case registered against him in May 2018. Arnab and the co-accused were arrested by Mumbai Police on November 4. After being rejected by HC Arnab moves to SC for bail plea. 

Mega-constellation of satellites objected by NASA

NASA has expressed its concerts to US about an upcoming mega-constellation of broadband satellites that could cause a ‘’significant increase in frequency of conjunction events.’’ NASA also discussed satellites’ conjunctions with the ‘A-Train’. A Texas-based company plans to place a network up to 243 satellites at an altitude of 720 km above the Earth’s surface.

Director Abhishek of ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ when asked about the theatrical release of his film he said, ‘’I didn’t want to release the movie digitally and added, OTT is the death of cinema.’’ Commenting on other filmmakers releasing their films on digital platforms, he added, ‘’Those films are dying’’.
