MP Assembly to soon pass bill against love jihad with 5-yrs jail for violators

Narottam Mishra, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh has announced that the state assembly will be presenting a bill against love jihad soon which is to include five-years rigorous imprisonment for those who violate the bill. The charges will be non-bailable, he further added. Earlier, the Chief Minister of the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Jihad will not be permitted in the name of love at any cost in the state.”

US economy earned USD 7.6 billion from Indian students last year

According to a report, Indian students studying in the United States have contributed USD 7.6 billion to the US economy in the academic year 2019-20, in spite of a 4.4 per cent drop in the total number of Indian students. After China, India has been the second-largest source of international students in the US

Obama’s recently published memoir recalls his meeting with India’s ex-PM Manmohan Singh

In a recently published memoir of the former US President Barack Obama, he has recalled meeting ex-PM, Manmohan Singh. In the memoir, Obama has written, “[Dr. Singh] looked frail…I wondered what would happen when he left office.” He has also added, “Would the baton be successfully passed to Rahul, fulfilling the destiny laid out by his mother and preserving the Congress Party’s dominance over the divisive nationalism touted by the BJP?”

Elon Musk gets $15bn richer in 2 hours becoming the world’s 3rd richest

Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk earned $15 billion in just two hours after his electric carmaker Tesla was named for inclusion in the S&P 500 index. The company’s stock boosted about 14% in extended trading, lifting Elon’s total wealth to $117.5 billion. This has made the billionaire world’s third-richest person, as reported by Bloomberg. Now his total wealth stands at $90 billion this year.

Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan receives death threats for attending Kali Puja

Last week Bangladeshi international cricketer Shakib Al Hasan had visited Kolkata via the Petrapole border to inaugurate a Kali Puja in the Beleghata area of the West Bengal capital. He was snapped while praying in front of the idol. He then flew back to Bangladesh. As a result of this, the cricketer started getting death threats. In response to this, Shakib tweeted, “Maybe I shouldn’t have visited the place at all. And if that is what you have against me, I am very sorry…I would try to make sure that this never happens again,” he said while apologizing to the fundamentalist person and his associates, who sent him the death threats. 

Brass bullet cartridges to be recycled into nameplates, medals by Maha Police

In a decision that is sustainable, the Maharashtra Police has decided to recycle used brass bullet cartridges into nameplates, medals, and trophies. “Once you fire a bullet, its cartridge is useless. A large number of cartridges pile up at our firing ranges after practice sessions,” S Jagannathan, ADGP (Planning and Coordination) said in an official statement. The tender fpr the same has been handed over to Parik Sales Corporation of Yamuna Nagar district in Haryana.

Congress panel meeting today to discuss organizational matters

A special committee of the Congress headed by the party chief Sonia Gandhi to handle certain operational matters of the party is most likely to conduct a meet to discuss the organizational issues faced by the party members. The special committee includes six members. It was formed by Sonia Gandhi in August this year to take care of the party reshuffle carried out after a group of 23 leaders wrote a letter to her seeking internal elections and organizational overhaul. The meeting is to be held virtually at 5 pm. 

Allow coaching classes to reopen: Owners urge Maharashtra government

The Maharashtra government has allowed almost every sector to resume operation after months of tight lockdown considering the pandemic situation. Taking this into notice, the coaching class owners in the states have now approached the CM requesting to allow the classes to reopen. The owners of the classes have assured all safety measures will be strictly followed. Sachin Karnavat, president of the Maharashtra Class Owners Association, has said, “So far there is no clarity on when coaching classes will be allowed to reopen. We are waiting for the government’s decision in this regard. Recently, a few class owners have met ministers in the state government urging them to restart classes. Class owners have promised to follow all the safety norms like practicing physical distancing, sanitizing premises etc.”

Will get Covid-19 under control by listening to experts: Kamala Harris

US Vice President Kamala Harris has promised the Americans that Joe Biden’s administration would get Covid-19 under control which currently has crossed the 11 million mark. She added that the government will curb the effect of the pandemic in the United States by taking the advice of the experts. “The Biden-Harris administration will get Covid-19 under control by listening to the experts, implementing nationwide testing and tracing, and ensuring vaccines are safe and free for all,” the Vice President tweeted. 

Delhi CM: Only 50 people will be allowed at weddings

Coronavirus cases in Delhi have been on the rise. Commenting on this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has permitted only 50 people to be present at weddings. A few weeks earlier when Delhi was having the pandemic situation under control, the number of people attending a wedding was kept at 200.
