Master Class at Whistling Woods with crew of Hasee toh Phasee

Alumni of institute return for special discussion with current students

The regularly conducted Master Classes by Whistling Woods International (WWI) was recently graced by the cast and crew of the Bollywood film Hasee toh Phasse. The team spoke to the students about the difficulty in breaking away from the norm of romantic comedy films while keeping it realistic and entertaining at the same time.

The Master Class had a tinge of nostalgia attached to it with the return of alumni members of the institute who were a part of the film team. Actor Anil Mange, associate editor Nitin Baid and assistant editor Manik Dawar were once students of Whistling Woods who played important roles in the film. Also present were director of the film Vinil Mathew, screenplay writer Harshavardhan Kulkarni, sound designer Subhash Sahoo and editor Shweta Venkat. The session was moderated by Rahul Puri who is the Academic head of Whistling Woods and Executive Director of Mukta Arts.

Meghna Ghai Puri, President of Whistling Woods International, said, “Our vision is to build a cadre of creative technicians, skilful artistes and passionate businessmen with a deep understanding of both national and international demands of today and tomorrow. Through these Master Classes students not only gain the confidence before they enter but also learn a lot from the practical knowledge of established filmmakers. It was a moment of pride for me to see three of our alumni sharing their experience with the students. We hope to see each one of them achieve similar and greater success in the industry.”

Anil Mange signed off by saying, “When I was a student, we used to have our annual functions in this auditorium. After everyone would leave, I used to look up at the stage and dream about coming back to Whistling Woods as guest faculty. I have the deepest gratitude for my alma mater and all my teachers for teaching me to ‘do what I love’ and making me who I am.”
