Jet Airways Crew fired for Sonu Nigam’s On-Air Concert

The viral response to Sonu Nigam’s on-air concert led to five Jet Airways air hostesses being penalized for letting the music artiste sing on the plane. On the flight from Jodhpur to Mumbai, Sonu Nigam gave an impromptu performance for the passengers. Although passengers seemed to like it a lot, the aviation company took it too seriously; to the extent of suspending some of the crew members. They found the entire event to be a misuse of the in-flight announcement system.

‘The regulator investigated the incident and asked the airline to suspend the air hostesses on board. Jet has also been asked to ensure that such ‘misuse’ of the in-flight announcement system is not allowed in future,’ a report in Times of India said. Sonu Nigam also commented on the issue saying that this is an act of intolerance. ‘This act lack of common sense according to me is real intolerance. I have witnessed an elaborate fashion show in an aircraft. I have seen pilots and crew members cracking humorous jokes to loosen up passengers in other countries, which is so cool,’ as reported by the NDTV. This is not the first time an Indian Airline got into trouble. A similar incident took place earlier in 2014 when Spice Jet cabin crew danced in the aisle to “Balam Pichkari,” a song from the Bollywood movie “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Two Spice Jet pilots were suspended after one of them left the cockpit mid-air to watch the cabin crew performing. To know more about Sonu Nigam’s on-air concert, click here.
