It’s The End Of An Era For CID

Hit TV show CID will soon go off air after 21 long years of gracing our TV screens, it has been revealed. The last episode will air on October 27th. The show first aired in 1997, and ever since the announcement, loyal fans have been left heartbroken.

Having completed 20 years, CID is the longest-running cult show on Sony Entertainment Television. It has been a great journey so far, along with Fireworks Productions, and CID will now take an intermittent break starting October 28,” said a statement from the show. However, makers have expressed their keenness to return with a brand new season of the show. “The show will gear up for a renewed season with a lot more contextual cases keeping alive the thrill that the audience has experienced so far,” the statement adds.

The show starred Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), Senior Inspectors Aditya Srivastava (Abhijeet) and Dayanand Shetty (Daya) in lead roles. Speaking to TOI about the show’s departure from television screens, Dayanand said, “We were in our 21st year and had we shot for a few more episodes, we would have entered our 22nd year. It is quite an unfortunate thing to happen as we were shooting like always and suddenly we were informed by our producer that the shooting has been called off indefinitely because there were issues with the channel.”

He also added, “I am going to miss the character, but we feel sad for the audience as they enjoyed the show and it was doing well. The entire cast and crew is very dedicated towards their work and we are like a big happy family. We are going to miss each other as this was our second home.”

The show has collectively had a total of 1,500 episodes since airing in 1997, and even though it had undergone several changes with the cast and story line-up, it managed to retain the plot. Heartbroken fans have already started campaigns on social media in the hopes of saving the show, the names ‘#saveCID’ and ‘#DoNotEndCID’.
