IIT Madras Unveils Dual Degrees In Ocean Engineering

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras introduced a new course on Ocean Engineering for graduates, upon completing this course at IIT Madras, graduates can pursue careers or further studies as Naval Architects or Ocean Engineers, among other roles. Ocean Engineering involves the designing and operating of human-made structures in the ocean and other marine environments. The Department of Ocean Engineering offers a BTech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, with the option to pursue a Dual Degree in either Ocean Engineering or Applied Mechanics.

What is Ocean Engineering?

Ocean engineering is a field of study defined as an advanced part of marine technology studies like maritime engineering, offshore engineering, or marine electronic technology. Many organizations appoint engineers to study the ocean’s environment to understand its impact on marine structures, the reverse effect needs to be examined.
