“I want to be a jack of all trades, master of none” – Sahil Khattar

During his year-long stint in the entertainment industry, Sahil Khattar has donned many hats. At the age of 17, he became Chandigarh’s top radio jockey. In 2011, he came to the city of Mumbai to take his dreams further. He took up writing dialogues for award functions and reality shows, and has even written dialogues for Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. He then went on to host his YouTube show ‘Being Indian’, and his videos have generated a million views.

He has also hosted reality shows such as India’s got talent and other dance shows. “When it comes to anchoring, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do, and it shows in my work as well. I went from being a VJ, to an anchor, to even writing for shows. I want to be known as a jack of all trades, master of none,” says Sahil.

In the past, he has hosted the Europa League Final, and is also now hosting the FIFA World Cup from India, which fulfilled his childhood dream of being a sports anchor. For Sahil, the opportunities that come his way are like a ‘second life’ to him. A couple of bad choices in the industry put him out of work for a while. But fortunately for him, this ‘second life’ seems to be working out pretty well. His stint with Being Indian, where he revolutionized the concept of VOX-POPs, put him back on the map. “Trusting my gut has really paid off for me”, he said.

However, the challenges are far from over. Sahil’s biggest challenge that he continues to face is his appearance. “I had to work on my skills and personality to compensate for my looks”, he jokes.

Sahil is also set to host his own travel show ‘Expedition’. The show revolves around exploring India’s small towns. The contestants share pictures and videos from their travel experiences on a mobile app called Beanstring, and the contestant with the most number of views wins the challenge. Sahil says “This is a first of its kind concept, and I’m super excited to be an integral part of this show. We are going to travel through Maharashtra, Gujarat and certain rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. “The best part of the show is that the concept is very unique, and when the opportunity came to me, I couldn’t let it go”, he adds.
