Greta Thunberg has become an inspiration for all after being nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for fighting climate change. The Swedish schoolgirl was nominated by three Norwegian MPs. National politicians, international officials, academics and former winners are among those who can nominate prospective recipients. If the 16-year-old were to win, she could be the youngest receiver since Pakistan’s Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 when she was awarded the prize.
According to the Norwegian Socialist MP Freddy Andre Ovstegard, proposing Greta Thunberg is the correct step to stop climate change, otherwise, it will be the cause of wars, conflicts, and refugees.
Greta Thunberg has launched a mass movement when she skipped school to protest climate change under the hashtag #FridaysForFuture. Greta first staged a school strike for the climate in front of the Swedish parliament in August last year. Since then, the founder of Youth Strike for Climate movement has been missing school on almost all Fridays to stage her regular protests. She gained relentless International attention after sharing a dialogue at the UN Climate Talks in Poland in December and at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January.
Thousands of children are expected to strike against climate change again in more than a hundred countries worldwide.
On Friday, thousands of schoolchildren are expected to strike again against climate change in more than 100 countries around the world. There have been regular walkouts around the world in countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia.
But Friday’s protest is allocated as the biggest one so far.
The prize will be announced in October and awarded in December in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. This year, there are 301 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, out of which 223 are individuals and 78 are organizations.
