The allure of space exploration has captivated the imagination of countless individuals, and organisations like the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) offer invaluable opportunities for engagement in space research and exploration endeavours. Aspiring professionals seeking to build their skills for the fast-growing space industry can now avail themselves of internships and student project trainee schemes at ISRO. Here’s a look at the details of these programs and how they contribute to the accessibility of space careers.

ISRO’s internship program for 2024 is open to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD students, providing them with a unique glimpse into the dynamic environment of ISRO. Eligible candidates must be Indian citizens pursuing or completing their studies in Science/Technology fields from recognized Indian or foreign universities/institutions. The internship duration spans a maximum of 45 days, with project allocation based on expertise, project availability, and course relevance to ISRO’s work.

ISRO Student Project Trainee Schemes 2024:

The student project trainee schemes at ISRO cater to various education levels and offer hands-on experience in space-related projects. Engineering (BE/BTech) students, ME/MTech students, BSc/Diploma students, MSc students, and PhD scholars are all eligible to participate, with durations ranging from 45 days to 30 months depending on the educational level. Traineeships are granted based on project availability and student suitability, providing participants with valuable exposure to real-world space research and development.

Expanding Access to Space Careers:

In addition to its internship and trainee schemes, ISRO emphasizes the significance of hands-on experience and provides essential guidelines for participants. While no stipend or financial assistance is provided, certificates are awarded upon satisfactory completion of projects/internships. Access to UNCLASSIFIED areas of ISRO labs/establishments is granted, although clearance is necessary for publishing papers/reports regarding ISRO work. These initiatives by ISRO stand as pillars of educational outreach and technological advancement, paving the way for aspiring space enthusiasts to contribute to India’s space odyssey.

As the space industry continues to evolve and expand, organizations like ISRO play a crucial role in nurturing talent and fostering innovation. ISRO opens doors for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience and make meaningful contributions to space exploration through its internship and student project trainee schemes. By emphasizing accessibility and practical learning, ISRO is shaping the next generation of space leaders and pioneers, propelling India’s space program to new heights.
