MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY SIGNS MOU WITH IIM AHEMDABAD

* For the objective of faculty and student exchange, the Melbourne University has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
* Australian Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Robb, was a signatory to the memorandum at IIM, Ahmedabad.
* Robb took a tour of the IIM-A campus and interacted with the students, accompanied by a delegation that consisted of the Australian Consul General from Mumbai, Mark Pierce, and the Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Varghese, the Australian High Commissioner to India, Patrick Suckling, among others.
* Robb lead a delegation of 450 businessmen at the Vibrant Gujarat summit and visited IIM-A as a part of the visit.

UNIVERSITY OF JADAVPUR AND CALCUTTA GET THE ‘EXCELLENCE’ TAG

* Jadavpur and Calcutta universities were re-selected for the status of ‘University with potential for excellence’.
* For the second phase of the five year scheme, the University Grants Commission has confirmed Rs. 60 crore to Calcutta University.
* The fund will be allocated to general upgrade of facilities, workshops, improvement of sports facilities, research and travel grants, renovation of old buildings, new hostels and instruments, library development and infrastructure.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN ANNOUNCES A €400,000 SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR INDIAN STUDENTS

* The University College Dublin has announced UCD scholarships for Indian postgraduate and undergraduate students, including four full scholarships to postgraduate students in memory of V.V. Giri, the fourth President of India, who studied at UCD.
* The UCD scholarships include the Graduate (Taught Masters) scholarships, Global Graduate scholarships, Undergraduate Global Excellence scholarship.
* The Government of Ireland scholarships for Indian students who are enrolled in the Taught Masters Programme and UCD Michael Smurfit School of Business scholarships are also available.
* All the scholarships are merit based tuition scholarships.
* The deadline for applications for the UCD international scholarships is 31 March 2015. Details of the Government of Ireland scholarships will be confirmed in February 2015.

30 MORE SEATS INCREASED AT IIM UDAIPUR

* To cater to the enormous response to the course, the Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur has hiked up the number of seats for the year 2015-2016 from 120 to 150.
* The fees may rise by 17% from Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 9.3 lakh.
* IIM-U will be administering the admission for six new IIMS: Rohtak, Tiruchirappalli, Ranchi, Rajpur, Kashipur, Udaipur.
* The new IIMS are calling over 10,000 candidates for the written ability test and the combined personal interview. The admission process begins from mid-February and will go  on till mid-March.
* IIM-U will be giving consideration to women and non-engineers seeking admissions.

THE U.S. CONSULATE IN MUMBAI ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF THE COMPETITION FOR THE NESA UGRAD PROGRAMME

The NESA UGRAD programme aims to foster mutual understanding between the citizens of the United States and the citizens of participating countries. NESA UGRAD is open to all academic fields of study. Finalists will be selected on the basis of academic excellence, leadership and their preparedness for study in the US. Competition for the NESA UGRAD is meritbased and open to anyone who is:
▶ Between 18-25 years of age
▶ A citizen of India
▶ Enrolled as an undergraduate in the first and second year of college and is in good standing at any accredited university, public or private and has at least one semester remaining at their home university at the conclusion of the UGRAD programme
▶ Completed secondary education in their home country
▶ Has a solid command over written and spoken English
▶ Eligible to begin studies in the United States starting August 2015
