Delhi First In India To Host The 10th Commonwealth Youth Parliament

“Humare desh ki yuvaa peedi humare desh ka bhavishya hai”

The youth represents the future of the world. This is something that every country believes in. In order to make the youth responsible for the development of their own country, they must first understand the structure, ethos and importance of good governance.

With this purpose in mind, the CPA (Commonwealth Parliamentary Association) annually organizes the Commonwealth Youth Parliament in the regions of the commonwealth. The 10th Commonwealth Youth Parliament, a three day event, is to be hosted in Delhi, India by the Delhi assembly for the first time, from today 25th November. On the first day of the event, Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla attended the event as a chief guest.

About 47 participants from 24 commonwealth nations are said to participate in the event. 11 members from India too will be participating. These young individuals range from the age group of 18 to 29 years. This includes higher secondary and college students, parliamentary officers, and young leaders.

Participating in the Commonwealth Youth Parliament will benefit students in understanding the important and fundamental aspects of parliamentary democracy and enable them to connect with like-minded peers. The students will get the opportunity to experience the ‘real-life’ assembly/parliamentary functioning. The overall purpose of this event is to enlighten to the youth the importance of good governance for the growth of a nation and the world.

Previously, the 9th Commonwealth Youth Parliament was hosted by the state of Jersey in 2018. India thus is hosting the event for the first time with great pleasure.
