BITS Open Sports Meet (BOSM 2019) – BITS Pilani

BITS Open Sports Meet is the annual sports festival of BITS Pilani. To be held from 13th to 17th of September, the 34th Edition of BOSM is all set to be an extravagant fest.

The event comprises of a total of 18 different sports ranging from the adrenaline-filled ball sports like Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Cricket and Hockey to the fast-paced racquet sports like Badminton, Lawn tennis, Squash and Table tennis. Apart from that, the list of sports also contains Athletics, Swimming, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding and Taekwondo, Snooker and Pool, Chess and Carrom. This year, Ultimate Frisbee has been introduced for the first time in BOSM. With a wide variety of sporting events lined up, BOSM certainly promises to be a thrilling 4-day affair.

Promising to be even bigger and better than last year, colleges from across the country will descend on the sports fields of the college, which claims to be one of the country’s biggest college sports festival. Final preparations are in full swing and first year students are excited to start their first-ever BOSM as BITSian.

The excitement regarding BOSM is reaching new levels as the days go by. Many teams from across the nation and also a few teams from other countries make their presence felt at BOSM every year. Colleges in Delhi including the various DU Colleges participate regularly and enthusiastically in BOSM. The same can be said about the colleges from Rajasthan including MNIT Jaipur and RIET Rajasthan. Large participation from other cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh is also observed.

The first edition of BOSM was held way back in 1986 and has grown to be one of the largest and most competitive college sports fests in the country. Baxter, the desert eagle, is the official mascot of BOSM. A student-managed fest, BOSM 2019 is the 34th edition of this prestigious and exemplary carnival of sports.

The chief guest of BOSM’19 is Arjuna Awardee Tania Sachdev, Woman Grandmaster in Chess, who holds the FIDE titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). She is also a chess presenter and commentator.

To summarize the experience, BOSM is all about fierce competition and sweet, long-lasting memories. We look forward to this event that is sure to provide many nail-biting moments and many more intense performances in the quest for victory.
