Bogeto Café: A Veggie Delight

If you’re a vegetarian, you’ll know the struggle of going to a restaurant and having to scour through menus looking for a vegetarian dish that is appetising and hearty. And then you’re met with the most obvious choices – paneer or potato. Fret not! There’s a quaint little café in the city’s Mumbai Central area and you can savour Continental, Asian or Street Food in vegetarian and Jain options.

At first glance, Bogeto Café will seem like a typical Parisian café that one would see as you’re strolling on the famed ChampsÉlysées with huge windows and plants peeping out.  And when you step inside, it’s like a window to the French capital. The ambience is quirky, yet comforting. And the welcoming staff add to the charm of the café.

You’ll find yourself in a sea of options to choose from, here. Start with the Jalapeno and Three Cheese Poppers – don’t let the size fool you. These nuggets sized bites are absolute flavour bombs. The tanginess of the jalapenos against the richness of the cheese (a combination of mozzarella, parmesan and cheddar), and dunked in that sweet and spicy dip, had our palettes tingling for more. We then tried the Molten Mushroom, which come in fours, stacked on skewers. Basically crumb-fried mushrooms with a melting centre, the dish is perfect if you’re looking for something that is satisfying yet not too heavy on your tummy.

The Schezwan Paneer Sandwich with bell peppers and scallions is a meal in itself! And they’re served with good ol’ potato wafers. You can wash this down with one of their fruity Mocktails or a refreshing Iced Tea.

By the time we reached main course our stomachs gave up on us. But hey, who says no to pizza? The manager recommended the All Mexican pizza to us, which has jalapenos, bell peppers, cilantro, corn and beans, which was not as heavy as we thought. And the perfect way to cap off our scrumptious meal was a portion of the Pretzella shake – Nutella goodness with salty pretzels, vanilla soft serve and Nutella dunked pretzels. The shake is so rich and decadent, and as stuffed as we were by now, we would definitely treat ourselves to a second helping. It goes without saying that this shake is one of the best in the city!

Whether you’re a big group of friends looking to catch up, a family or whether you want a table for two, Bogeto café ticks all the right boxes. Their already existing branch at Matunga is convenient for those who don’t want to make the commute all the way. And considering their pocket-friendly prices, what’s not to love?!

Location: Jain Lakshmi Mansion, Opposite Navjeevan Society, Mumbai Central, Mumbai

Cost: Rs 850 for two
