A heart-warming story about a famous actress falling in love with a travel book shop owner, this tale will make you feel mushy on the inside. And, how could we forget the famous dialogue “I’m just a girl standing in front of a guy asking him to love her” that will surely get you dewy eyed.

 

MEAN GIRLS

No sleepover is complete without this movie. The story of a girl, who was homeschooled, enters high school for the first time and meets the meanest girls in her class – The Plastics. This movie has the right amount of humour, sass and entertainment, and is a teenage favourite. Lindsay Lohan as Cady Heron fits into her her role perfectly, and aptly depicts the fact that, if you pretend to be something you are not, long enough, you might just end up becoming that anyway.

 

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

A rebel, a princess, an outcast, a nerd and a jock get detention on a Saturday under their power-hungry principal. These high school students, who come from different walks of life have the chance to tell their story and change the each others opinion about them, at the end of the day questioning if everything at school will ever be the same again. An iconic movie in the genre of movies to watch on a sleepover, this one should definitely not be missed.

 

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

Yet another chick flick that is a sleepover essential, this movie about a new boy in high school who can’t date a pretty girl he falls for until her cold-hearted older sister gets a boyfriend, is a sob fest. Its soppy scenes will make you teary and bad boy Patrick will make your heart swoon and wish he was being paid to impress you. It is based on an old Shakespearean play The Taming of the Shrew and exhibits great acting by Julia Styles and Heath Ledger as well as the rest of the cast.

Nothing works better on a sleepover than a good horror movie that will keep you up and huddled on the sofa all night, screaming and jumping at every scene. This movie has almost everything you need for a good scare. Absolutely gorgeous actors? Check. Engrossing storyline? Check. Thrill, mystery and excitement? Check! Thus, hands down, this is one horror movie that every girls night in should include, to make sure the excitement of the night remains intact.
