Apple’s Latest iPhones Will Burn A Hole In Your Pocket…As Usual

Apple has come out with latest versions of iPhones named iPhone XR, iPhone Xs and the iPhone XS Max, and if you hoped these would be cheaper versions of already existing iPhones (shoutout to the iPhone 5C), you might as well keep dreaming.

Prised at $749 (INR 53,783), $999 (INR 71,735) and $1,499 (INR 1,07,638) respectively, the iPhone XS Max, with 512 GB storage, is the priciest version of the iPhone launched to date. Prices for older iPhones like the iPhone7, iPhone 7 plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have reduced, while the iPhone X, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE have been discontinued.

Apple has already begun pre-orders for the iPhone XS and XS Max, with shipping to begin by September 21st. Pre-orders for the iPhone XR will begin on October 19th, and shipping on October 26th.

According to the Inquirer, The 5.8in iPhone XS is the direct successor to last year’s iPhone X, while the Max model, which offers the same footprint as Apple’s previous 5.5in smartphones despite its larger 6.5in OLED display, essentially replaces Apple’s now-defunct Plus-branded models.

Both the XS and XS Max feature Super Retina resolution screens, which offer HDR, Dolby Vision, a 120Hz refresh rate and carry the notch that debuted on last year’s flagship. This is to accommodate Apple’s souped-up Face ID tech, which the firm is now touting as the ‘most secure facial authentication ever in a smartphone’.

The iPhone XS and XS Max have a dual 12MP camera setup, with a larger sensor than that on the iPhone X. Another new camera software feature is the ‘Smart HDR’ mode and the ability to adjust a photo’s depth of field after it’s been taken. The iPhone XS and XS Max are also the first iPhones to support dual SIM. The phones are available in Gold and Silver, Space Grey colour options, with 64GB, 256GB, 512GB of storage.

The iPhone XR is available in a number of jazzy colour options, with a 12MP wide-angle rear lens, and a 7MP TrueDepth camera on the front. The XR also offers dual sim, and an increased battery life, reportedly an hour and a half more than the iPhone 8 Plus. You can avail of the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB configurations, with white, black, blue, coral, red and yellow colour options.
