Bharti Airtel recently became the first Internet Service Provider in the country to offer internet speeds up to 100 Mbps. The speeds will be offered through V-Fiber technology and will be rolled out in 87 cities starting in Chennai and reaching other parts of Airtel’s network in the coming weeks. V-Fiber which is based on Vectorization is Europe’s No 1 fixed broadband technology.
In a bid to convert customers, Airtel is offering new fixed line customers a three months unlimited trial offer. Ajai Puri, Director- Operations at Bharti Airtel said that India is witness to an explosive growth in data usage as well as data consumption at homes over fixed broadband with consistent speeds. “With V-Fiber and an optic fiber backbone already in place, we are ready to offer a future ready network for tomorrow’s digitally connected homes” he said.
He also said that the new technology will reduce carbon footprints as well offer quick and convenient upgrades to customers. Bharti Airtel is also launching innovative myHome Rewards and unlimited free voice calls for their customers.
By introducing V-Fiber, Airtel has brought fiber closer to homes with increased capacity in neighbourhoods and has also upgraded their infrastructure to handle the speeds.
Existing Airtel broadband customers can upgrade to ‘V-Fiber’ speeds with their current plan and get faster data speeds at no extra monthly cost.
