After 4G Next Is 5G. Here Is Everything You Need To Know

The world of technology saw a complete transformation and upliftment with the introduction of 4-Generation or 4G network. The globe had never seen such high speed of the network and it’s safe to say, we can’t get enough of it. 5G network will be a huge step up from 4G. 5G aims at providing super-fast data download and upload speed. It is built on the existing 4G network to offer three upgrades that are fast network response, lower battery life from lower-power usage and higher speeds which allows transferring large amount of data.

The biggest change between 4G and 5G is speed. 5G claims to provide the speed of 10,000 Mbps which is ten times faster than that of 4G. 5G will allow you to make voice calls, video calls, control your smart home and also download a movie within 40 seconds.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, the telecom minister recently said that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will begin trial for 5G in 100 days. The auction for the 5G spectrum will be held in 2019 according to the government’s call. Reliance Jio is been said to be backing the rates and timings of the auction. The Vodafone-Idea CEO termed the current 5G base price as “exorbitant”. A source close to Jio said to the Economic Times, “The prices have been decided after much deliberation by the sector regulator and if a telephone company (telco) needs the spectrum, then it will bid for it during the auction irrespective of the costs.”

You will require a smartphone which supports 5G connectivity to have access to it. Huawei and Samsung have already launched phones that support 5G in other parts of the world but are yet to be launched in India. Companies like Xiaomi and Oneplus have showcased their phones but are yet to be launched.

5G is expected to modify the range of areas including transport, healthcare, smart cities, smarthomes and more. You will be able to control almost every device in your home from your phone, from your refrigerator to your security system.

While there are a lot of advantages of 5G, technology has its downside too. 5G devices will produce more data than ever before, increasing the risk of overload. For example, smarthomes will get access to our personal lives that can lead to an unusual level of proximity. 5G will be a revolutionary change in the history of network and connectivity. Now let’s all wait until we can finally get our hands on it.
