Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI), Mumbai Chapter recently launched the Aviation Mentorship Programme at Vivekananda Education Society Institute of Management (VESIM). The program aims at mentoring and advising budding aviation professionals like Pilots, Flight Attendants, Air traffic Controllers, Flight Dispatchers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Safety and Security Personnel and prospective students who are looking for guidance in their professional growth and to achieve success in their respective aviation streams.
The Chief Guest for the inauguration was Shri Keshava Sharma, Regional Executive Director, -WR-Mumbai, who along with other prominent dignitaries of the aeronautical industry such as Mr. Manmohan Chawla, Mr. Vivek Kulkalrni and Dr Punita Masrani shared their immense knowledge and insights of the aeronautical space which were highly appreciated by the attendees.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Satish Modh, Director, VESIM Business School and Former Chairman of AeSI (Mumbai), said, “VESIM’s AICTE-approved Executive PGDM Program is the only management program in Mumbai that offers aviation management as a specialization. It is the right career choice for young aviation professionals who are keen to grow into senior management roles”
Keshava Sharma, Regional Executive Director, Western Region, Airports Authority of India and Current Chairman of the AeSI, (Mumbai) said, “the purpose of the Mentorship Program is to help students and budding Aviation enthusiasts to achieve success in their careers, by integrating academic learning and real-world experiences, and to become a model for workforce readiness; embraced by the Aviation community”.
The AeSI members comprise of senior, experienced and successful aviation professionals drawn from various streams of Aviation. This will guide the candidates in their mentorship program by integrating academic learning and real-world experiences and achieve success in their careers.

The Aeronautical Society of India was inaugurated by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India on 17 November 1948. He was also the first Patron-in-Chief of the Society. The objective of the Society is to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of aeronautical sciences and aircraft engineering as well as elevation of the aeronautical profession. The Society has 17 Branches at all the important centers of aviation in the country viz., Agra, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chandigarh, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Mumbai, Nasik, Nagpur, Pune, New Delhi, Sunabeda and Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, two special centers CFD Division and Design Division at Bangalore.
Its membership of more than 13,000 is drawn from all major aeronautical establishments such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, DGCA, Defence Research and Development Establishments, Academic Institutions, Aeronautical Development Agency, Indian Air Force, Indian Space Research Organization, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, National Airport Authority of India, Air India, Jet
Airways, Pawan Hans and aero industry in private sector. The Society has 60 corporate members from both national and international sectors.
