Lohagad Fort

This multi-access fort sits on a bed of lush greenery and small wild flowers. Located in Lonavala, Lohagad is easily accessible from Mumbai and Pune, and is the perfect spot for a weekend day trip. There are a number of agencies that organise treks here, if you wish to go with a group of your best buds or significant other. Our advice is to take full advantage of these as it is the best option to enjoy all the fort has to offer, without missing out on anything.

Tikona Fort

Probably one of the best that Maharashtra has to offer, Tikona Fort is a triangular shaped mountain fort, with spectacular views to behold. Your trek will take you through lush green pastures, scenic views, and the pristine waters of Lake Pavna.

Ratangad Fort

All you Mumbaikars are in for a treat! Ratangad Fort is home to some breath-taking views, scenic landscapes and an abundance of greenery for you to enthral in. However, it’s a long, winding overnight journey before you embark on your trek. The insides of the fort are home to Tryambak Darwaza, Chor Darwaza, and a water tank which was the largest of its time.

Kohoj Fort

A slice of paradise awaits all those who gather, on the outskirts of Mumbai at Palghar. You begin your journey with a glorious sight of the fort’s reflection on a lake at the base. Your 2-hour journey will then take you through some of the serene landscapes, the magnificent Lord Shankar temple, and 3 water cisterns on the top.

Malshej Ghat

The best part about Malshej Ghat is that it offers you things to do beyond just trekking. You can go bird watching, rock climbing or soak in the aura of cascading waterfalls. However, a trek up to the Harishchangragad Fort is a must for all who visit. At 1,424 metres above sea level, you’ll find devotes lining up to pay their respects to Lord Vishnu at the carved Vishnu Temple, that is nothing short of a wonder.
