 HOGENAKKAL FALLS:

Often referred to as ‘The Niagara Falls of India”, the Hogenakkal Falls on the Kaveri River is a sight to behold. A boat ride takes you through a route filled with lush mulberry fields and an abundance of vegetation and halts at a safe distance from the waterfall. The name of the waterfall has been derived from two Kannada words – ‘hoge’ meaning smoke and ‘kal’ meaning rock. The theatrics of the waterfall is the mist created by water hitting the rocks creates a feeling of smoke emanating from the rocks. It is also known as Marikottayam by the locals.

NUBRA VALLEY:

Nubra Valley, the far-flung yet austerely beautiful enclave cradled by rugged mountains is located to the North East of Ladakh. It has grown to be surprisingly commercial as an increasing number of tourists are pouring in annually. The settlements are nestled in crops of wheat, barely, mustard and more. This quaint little valley, however long the drive may be, is surely worth a visit.

 

ATHIRAPALLY FALLS:

The combination of streams, forests, an 80-foot waterfall, and perfect Kerala weather – nestled in dense green forests and herb plantations, Athirapally Falls surely deserves its spot on our list.  Nothing is as rejuvenating as standing at the foot of the falls and being enveloped in the magical and calming spray.  With the roar of the waterfall and the gurgling sound of the stream for company, this beauty is a perfect spot for a picnic at the base and is enjoyable even by yourself if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I guarantee that the pictures need absolutely no Instagram filters.

SANDAKPHU:

Sandakphu is the highest peak in West Bengal, located at the edge of Singalila national park in Darjeeling district. Popularly known as the “Trekkers Wonderland”, the trek presents itself with various challenges along the way, ranging from moderate to difficult. But your efforts will definitely be worth it as Sandakphu offers a panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga. Lhotse and Makalu that you wouldn’t want to miss.

 ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLANDS:

Our list would be incomplete without the mention of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a traveller’s haven. Crystal clear emerald waters, pristine white beaches, flame and purple sunsets, world-class diving and a promised luxury escape. What’s not to love? While Nicobar is strictly off limits to tourists, Andaman offers a variety of things to do; some of which include a visit to the Cellular Jail National Memorial and Samudrika Marine museum with an array of hotels to stay at.
