The Potbelly, New Delhi

Set in the designer clothes hub of Shahpur Jat, this recently-opened restaurant serves Bihari cuisine at its best. Reaching the place might get a little tricky, so it is advisable to ask the locals for directions. Situated on the rooftop, it is an airy place that has huge bay windows, vibrant splashes of colour and a great view of the tree tops. Choose from typically Bihari dishes that are served along with Maggi, as well as sandwiches and shakes for all those who wish to come in for a quick bite in the evening. While you wait for your meal to arrive, a bowl of Makhane (nuts) is placed on the table to munch on. A must-try dish is Litti Chokha as it happens to be a very famous and traditional Bihari dish that is served with chana dal, two types of brinjal mash and whole-wheat balls stuffed with sattu. Also, the mutton champ platter that is served with tawa mirch paranthas should not be missed. To complete your meal, ask for the dessert of the day. However, the servers are not very well informed about the different dishes. And, from the drinks menu, two very char acteristic refreshments are missing in the form of lassi and sherbet. 116-C, Shahpur Jat, New Delhi – Per Person Rupees – 350.
