Party Ready

The 31st of December brings with it the eve to a new year and the pressure to look your best. So be it a big bash or a cosy family get together, we have got you covered

Big Party
With brands like F21, ZARA and now H&M India (opening in Delhi) dictating the urban party scene, outfits are limiting when it comes to uniqueness. But your hair and makeup is something you can really get creative with. For a bold too-cool-to-care look, you can amp up the natural texture of your hair by back brushing or blow drying at odd angles while flipping your hair. Smoky eyes are advised, if not recommended. You can pair electric blue or snowy white eyeliner with your regular smoky eyed routine, to cut out of the generic look. You may need a fine layer of foundation to look good for the 12 O’clock picture, especially if you plan on dancing the year away. A loud colour for the lips is almost complimentary to a big bash, so you can don a bright red or peppy pink to complete your look.

Small get together with friends
A small get together is a big deal. You can’t be overdressed but you can’t look like you didn’t care enough to dress up for this. So the best way is to go for a pretend-natural look, like beach waves for your hair. A fun girly hairdo requires a fun girly lip colour like baby pink or orange and keeping in sync with the casual yet classy look try to execute a winged eye liner, but if that’s too much of rocket science for you, you can simply add extra volume to the lashes (mascara with curling brush) and keep the eyeliner simplistic. As for your skin tone, a very negligible layer of foundation is advised, which you must apply such that it blends with your complexion to pull off the I-woke-up-like-this look.

Family dinner
Every affair with the family calls for you to look innocent and cute while disguising your ability to drain a beer bottle in 40 seconds or other abilities along those lines. And nothing spells cute like face framing braids, pinned to the side. It is something that compliments both long and short hair and takes minimal effort. A pastel shade of lip colour or a swipe of gloss will be complimentary to your hairdo, while minimal or no foundation is the way to go. Although you may put on a fresh layer of BB cream to freshen the charm of your skin. Subtle eye makeup will do wonders for this look, but you can add grace to your eyes with a light dab of a funky eye shadow.

Office party
Office parties are fun because people get to see a side of you that is way different from your regular 9 to 5 self, but you are never sure on how much of that side you should show. For a professional yet casual look, French twist a loose bun and use bobby pins to sparingly anchor the hair to scalp. Contrast your regular eye makeup with voluminous strokes or go for a doe eyed look to create a eased up appearance. Highlight cheeks and lips with the same crème based colour to add elegance.
