There’s a lot more to air crafts than flying, and if you want to delve deeper, we think Aerospace Engineering is just for you

Aerospace engineering pertains to the study and design of aircrafts and space crafts. Aerospace engineers are responsible for the development of control systems for aircrafts, analyse new material for aircraft and space craft construction and conduct research for new innovations. The field of aerospace engineering is further divided into two sub categories – aeronautical engineering and aerospace engineering. Aeronautical engineers deal with the study, design and implementation of aircrafts. Astronautical engineering was introduced with the advent of space crafts and is solely restricted to spacecraft management and construction.

WHAT YOU NEED

One of the most advanced fields of engineering, aerospace engineers make use of a large portion of knowledge from mechanical, electrical and computer engineering disciplines to design space crafts and air crafts. In addition to designing, aerospace engineers also test prototypes and conduct further research. In order to study and successfully acquire a degree in Aerospace engineering, you will need a heavy background in subjects such as chemistry, physics, computer science and mathematics with a focus in algebra, calculus and trigonometry. An ideal Bachelor’s degree program includes field studies in subjects such as general engineering principles, propulsion, stability and control, structures, mechanics and aerodynamics. To gain entry into the field of Aerospace engineering, an aspiring aerospace engineer will require analytical skills which enable them to identify multiple design elements and to formulate new ones for the purpose of improvement. An important skill, that most aspiring students tend to skimp out on is writing skills. As an aerospace engineer, you will require top-notch writing skills, which will enable you to write papers elaborating on how and why your designs work, and for creating documents for future references.
Now, while acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace engineering is essential, you will also require licensure, namely a Professional Engineering (PE) license for making advancements in your career.
