The 37th edition of Apogee, BITS Pilani’s technical festival is being held from 28th to 31st March 2019. Previous editions have welcomed the likes of APJ Abdul Kalam, Kailash Satyarthi, Simon Taufel, and Jimmy Wales. The theme for this time’s event is The Reality Roulette. Dr.A.S Kiran Kumar- former ISRO chairman and Padma Shri recipient- is the guest of honour for Apogee 2019.
This year’s speaker lineup boasts stellar personalities in their respective domains. Rakesh Sharma- first Indian space traveler and recipient of Ashok Chakra, Alan Emtage- the creator of the world’s first internet search engine Archie, and Stephen Morse- chief architect of Intel’s iconic 8086 microprocessor will grace Apogee’s Think Again conclave with their presence. Ashwin Sanghi- one of India’s most popular authors and known as the Indian Dan Brown, and Vikramaditya Motwane- director of the award-winning web series Sacred Games, will attend Apogee’s literature festival.
The conference will also host paper presentations, hackathons, exhibitions, and competitions. For the first time, BITSMUN, the oldest college MUN conference will be conducted during Apogee. The widely popular Codechef coding competition- International Coding League, will also be held. Other notable events include the Business Plan Competition, Apogee Innovation Challenge, Stock Market Simulation, and the Machine Learning hackathon. A workshop by Cisco on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Network security is also scheduled.
With star-studded speakers to narrate their untold stories and a series of workshops and competitions lined up, Apogee 2019 is expected to be a technological extravaganza which challenges the intellects and piques the mind of the students.
